Holiday Road Trip Tips for 2018

Will you and your family be traveling on the road during the holidays this year — either locally in Texas or to friends and family across the country? If so, prioritize safety with these holiday road trip tips:

  • Get your vehicle serviced before going: Traveling a long distance? Consider getting your oil changed and tires rotated before heading out. If you will be traveling to colder temperatures in the north, have your battery tested and consider adding antifreeze.
  • Or just rent a vehicle: If your car or SUV has seen better days, don’t risk taking an unreliable vehicle on a long trip. Instead, treat yourself by renting a nice vehicle. You won’t be putting miles on your car, and your family will appreciate the advanced safety and entertainment features.
  • Respect your limits and plan ahead: Limit yourself to no more than 10 or so hours of driving. If possible, take turns driving with your partner. And don’t expect to find vacant rooms conveniently at the first hotel you see when you grow tired; instead, plan ahead by booking all your lodging in advance.
  • Stay healthy: Take frequent pit stops to move and walk around, and pack healthy snacks in a cooler like water, fruits, veggies, and nuts.

If you need a stylish and fun-to-drive new vehicle to get you to your holiday destination, look no further than Hiley Mazda of Hurst. We have Mazda’s latest vehicles in stock, and we think you’ll fall in love after just one test drive.
